Why add storage

More flexibility from the energy you produce.

A battery stores electricity from your solar system so you can use it later, instead of using it only while the sun is shining.

Use more of your own solar

Store solar energy produced during the day and draw on it in the evening or when production is low.

Backup for selected loads

When designed and installed for backup, a battery may keep chosen circuits running during a grid outage.

Built to fit your system

Equipment and sizing are matched to your solar system, electrical service, available space and goals.

How we plan storage

From goals to a working system.

  1. Goals review

We talk through what you want storage to do: everyday use of solar, backup, or both.

  2. Load & system evaluation

We review your existing solar system or planned design, electrical panel and the circuits you want backed up.

  3. Equipment & sizing

We recommend compatible equipment and battery capacity, and explain the trade-offs.

  4. Electrical design & permitting

We design the electrical integration and handle permits and utility requirements.

  5. Installation & commissioning

We install the system to code, configure it and test backup operation where included.

  6. Monitoring & support

We set up monitoring and remain available for service and troubleshooting.

Planning backup honestly

What backup depends on.

No battery powers everything indefinitely. We size and configure storage around clear priorities, and we explain the assumptions behind our recommendation.

  • Battery capacity and the number of batteries
  • Which circuits and appliances are backed up
  • How much power those loads draw, and when
  • Solar production, season and weather during an outage
  • How long the outage lasts
  • Equipment configuration and utility requirements

Where storage fits

Storage options.

New solar + storage

Design solar and storage together from the start, so equipment, wiring and backup circuits are planned as one system.

Adding a battery to existing solar

Many existing systems can accept storage, depending on the equipment, available space and electrical design. We evaluate before we recommend.

Homes and businesses

Storage for households that want backup for essentials, and for businesses and facilities that want more control over how they use energy.

Service for existing batteries

Troubleshooting, monitoring and configuration help for battery systems, including some installed by other companies.

Questions

Battery storage FAQ.

Will a battery power my whole home during an outage?

It depends on the battery capacity, the equipment configuration and which loads are connected. Most systems are designed to back up selected circuits, such as refrigeration, lighting, internet and certain outlets, rather than an entire home. We review your priorities and explain what a given design can support.

How long will a battery last during an outage?

Backup duration varies with battery size, the loads being powered, solar production and weather, and the length of the outage. We can estimate scenarios for your design, but backup duration is not guaranteed.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Battery storage may be added when the existing system, equipment, available space, and electrical design are compatible. Genesis Solar can evaluate the property and system before recommending next steps.

Do batteries qualify for incentives or tax credits?

Some incentives and tax benefits may apply to battery storage depending on the equipment, how it is installed and current program rules. Eligibility is not guaranteed. Consult a qualified tax professional about your situation.

Do you work on batteries installed by other companies?

We can evaluate many battery and solar systems installed by other companies. Evaluation or service does not imply that Genesis Solar assumes another installer's workmanship warranty, service warranty, or contractual obligations.
